God at Work!

Sometimes as we travel down the road we come upon a sign reading, “Men at Work.” Maybe we should all have a sign on us saying, “God at Work!” For, far from being removed from His universe, God is actively at work today!

God is at work in all:

… God … works all in all (I Corinthians 12:6).

He is at work in us,

For it is God Who works in you … (Philippians 2:13).

For we are His workmanship … (Ephesians 2:10).

Now unto Him … the power that works in us (Ephesians 3:20).

… His power to us-ward … the working of His mighty power (Ephesians 1:19).

God is at work in us to such an extent that Paul actually calls us, “the work of God” (Romans 14:20). Paul describes God’s own work in him,

Whereunto I also labor, striving according to His working, which works in me mightily (Colossians 1:29).

God is always at work in us according to His own will. He doesn’t consult us on how He should work, for, “who has been His counselor?” (Romans 11:34). After all, He “works all things after the counsel of His own will” (Ephesians 1:11), thus accomplishing His own purposes, in His own way, and in His own timing.

Let’s never forget that we are His creation; He made us, and continues His grand work in us.

… It is He Who has made us, and not we ourselves … (Psalm 100:3).

… He Who has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6).

Rest in His work.
